IDUKKI: The windshield of the Royal View double-decker bus in Munnar was shattered the other day while the vehicle was being taken to the workshop for routine maintenance. KSRTC officials stated that the glass broke due to the carelessness of the staff. The Transport Minister’s office has sought a report on the incident. KSRTC officials also mentioned that the broken glass would be replaced today itself.
The double-decker bus service is part of KSRTC’s latest initiative, the 'KSRTC Royal View' project. The RN 765 (KL 15 9050) double-decker bus operates in Munnar. The front windshield of the upper deck has been damaged.
The KSRTC Royal View double-decker bus service for tourists was launched on February 8th this year. Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar inaugurated the service. He had stated at the time that the lights installed in the bus were not meant to be turned on and that the bus would not operate at night. The staff had been instructed to remove the lights, following criticisms that decorative lights on a KSRTC bus were against regulations.
