IDUKKI: The death toll in the tourist bus accident in Munnar Mattupetty has risen to three. They are students from Scott Christian College, Nagercoil. The deceased are BSc Computer Science students Athika R from Thingalnagar and Venika R from Kanagappapuram and Suthan (19). Adika died on the spot. Venika and Suthan died in the hospital. One student is in critical condition.

The accident involved a group of college students from Kanyakumari. There were 37 students and three teachers in the vehicle. Several people were injured.

The vehicle involved in the accident is a Kerala registration bus. The bus was on its way to Kundala Dam when it lost control on a bend near Echo Point. Eyewitnesses say that the bus was speeding and lost control and overturned. The bus driver was also injured in the accident. He has been taken into police custody.
