DUBAI: It seems India is of a fine start in the Champions Trophy. In their first match of the tournament, the men in blue bowled out their opponents Bangladesh for 228 runs in 49.4 overs. At one stage, Bangladesh was facing humiliation after losing five wickets for just 36 runs. But came Towhid Hridoy to rescue the sinking ship with a terrific 100 off 18 balls. Jaker Ali scored a half-century with 68 (114) to help Bangladesh reach a formidable total. Both of them scored 154 runs for the sixth wicket. Only four batsmen crossed the double figures in the Bangladesh lineup.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bat first. Harshit Rana gave India their second wicket by dismissing Shanto in the second over. Mehdi Hasan Miraz 5(10) Another opener Tanseed Hasan Tamim 25(25) and veteran batsman Mushfiqar Rahim 0(1) stumbled down far too early.
Bangladesh was 35-5 in 8.5 overs when Jaker Ali reached the crease. Axar Patel was on for a hat trick and nearly claimed it if not for the gaffe from skipper Rohit Sharma who missed an easy catch.
