Anusree is an actress who became popular among the Malayali audience through numerous films. There have been several rumours circulating on social media about the actress entering politics. Now, in an interview with a media outlet, she has openly addressed these speculations.

"I grew up near a temple, and whenever I could, I’d be there for any event — whether it was to pray, wash dishes during ‘annadanam,’ clean the temple, or join a procession. There was never any politics in that; it was just the faith I was raised with.

Once, I was chosen as 'Bharatamba' (Mother India) for a Sri Krishna Jayanthi celebration. The problem arose because this happened after I became a film actress. Before that, when I played the roles of 'Bharatamba' or Parvati, it was never a matter of concern. Those moments are captured in my photo albums. But in 2017, when I became 'Bharatamba' again, it suddenly became a political issue, and I was labelled a religious extremist. No matter how we try to clarify, once people label you, there’s not much you can do to change their minds.

I know what I’ve done, and I know that I have no understanding of politics. People still ask if I’ll enter politics, and I always say I don’t know because only those who understand that game can truly be part of it.

For me, going to Balagokulam was like attending Sunday school. From Class 4 onwards, we tied rakhis to each other. I started doing it before I even understood what it meant, and I still do it now. But today, if I tie a rakhi, people will brand me a religious extremist. That’s not my politics; I’m simply living the way I was raised," Anusree shared.
