KOCHI: The Kerala High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of P C George in a hate speech case. The Kottayam district sessions court had earlier rejected his anticipatory bail plea. A case was registered against George by the Erattupetta police for his hate speech during a television debate. His bail plea was considered by Justice P V Kunhikrishnan.
P C George told court that it was a mistake from his side. However, the high court said P C George is constantly making mistakes, a procession of mistakes. A similar case was registered against P C George in Thiruvananthapuram earlier. The high court pointed that repeating the crime after being released on bail as a serious issue.
George said that his speech was during a television debate. Although George said that he apologized the next moment, the court did not take it at face value. The court said that this is not a justification for continuously violating the orders given by the high court and the magistrate courts.
The Erattupetta police registered a case on a complaint filed by the Youth League for allegedly making remarks that could incite religious hatred during a channel debate on January 5.
