Aaradhya Devi, a Malayali, is making her debut on the silver screen with famous director Ram Gopal Varma's film 'Saaree'. The actress had changed her name from Sreelakshmi Sathish to Aaradhya Devi. The Malayali actress has now said that she comes from a family that did not allow her to act in films. Aaradhya Devi also said that wearing the clothes someone likes is a person's personal freedom. The actress spoke openly about these things during the promotion of her new film.

"Like everyone else, I was a person who looked at everything with civic sense. Everything changed after I acted in the film 'Saaree'. I had started making reels when I was doing PG. Ram Gopal Varma sir saw a reel I had made and asked who I was. Most people in my generation don't know him. He sent me a message. I had no clue what to do."

"Many controversies about him were making rounds at that time. I was confused about what to believe. I knew the films he had done. Ram Gopal Varma had portrayed glamorous roles beautifully. He gave me a chance to act in films. I was 22 years old at that time. I told this to my father and mother. At first, they could not accept it."

"I come from an ordinary family. Everyone in my family gave importance to studies. I like cinema. I also liked acting. But my family did not have that kind of thinking. I still do not know what beauty Ram Gopal Varma sees in me. I used to wear a churidar and shawl during my student phase. All my friends know that. I have changed a lot. There is no need to criticize me for doing glamorous roles in films. Clothing is a person's freedom. Many people have trolled me on social media. That has made my father and mother very sad," said Aaradhya Devi.
