KALPETTA: The disaster victims in Wayanad are protesting over the delay in the rehabilitation. The protests are being staged by making porridge and building huts and has now escalated into a tense situation. There was a scuffle between the police and the protesters. The police stopped the protesters who tried to enter the disaster area by crossing the Bailey Bridge.

The disaster victims also announced that protests, including a hunger strike, will begin soon. Even after seven months since the disaster, rehabilitation work has not yet begun. The second draft list for the rehabilitation of the disaster victims was ready last midnight.
