KALPETTA: Minister O R Kelu said the protests staged against the delay in the rehabilitation of the Mundakkai- Chooralmala landslide are with bad intentions. The minister clarified that it is not right to protest for everything and that the problems of the disaster victims are under the consideration of the government. He told the media that no one had come to see him with issues. The minister clarified that the procedures for rehabilitation are being completed by the government.

Meantime, the protests of the disaster victims in Wayanad against the delay in rehabilitation is intensifying. The protest by making porridge and building huts has now escalated into a tense situation. There was a scuffle between the police and the protesters this morning. The police stopped the protesters who tried to enter the disaster area by crossing the Bailey Bridge.

The disaster victims also said that protests, including a hunger strike, will begin soon. Even after seven months of the disaster, rehabilitation work has not yet begun. The second draft list for the rehabilitation of the disaster victims was ready last night. However, there are allegations that the names of many of the disaster victims are not in the list.
The protesters' demands include releasing a complete list of beneficiaries for rehabilitation and start house construction immediately, provide ten cents of land to each family, jobs to disaster victims and provide further treatment. The protesters informed that the strike has now been temporarily called off.
