THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Kaumudi has won two of the state government's 2022 media awards. Kerala Kaumudi Chief News Editor V.S. Rajesh (for TV interview) and cartoonist T.K. Sujith (for cartoon) won the award. VS Rajesh got the award for his interview with T. Padmanabhan for Kaumudi TV. Sujith won the award for his cartoon depicting the changes in freedom struggle symbols in Indian society in 2022—the 75th anniversary of independence.
VS Rajesh is the journalist who exposed the SSLC question paper leak (2005), which gathered a lot of attention. He won 22 awards for that news. He has won many awards, including the Press Council of India National Award for Best Developmental Journalism (2018) and the Kerala Legislative Assembly Award. He has won the State Television Award and the State Media Award for Best Television Interview. His wife is S.S. Deepa, a teacher at St. Rita's School in Aruviyode, Thiruvananthapuram. Their son is Rajdeep Sridhar, a Plus Two student at Pattom Kendriya Vidyalaya.
This is the twelfth time that Sujith, son of the late T.R. Kumaran and P.R. Thankamani of Thirumittakode, has received the State Media Award for Cartoon. Sujith, who has a postgraduate degree in constitutional law, has been a cartoonist for Kerala Kaumudi since 2001. He has received many awards, including the National Cartoon Award of the Indian Institute of Cartoonists, the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Award three times, the Kerala Media Academy Fellowship, and the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club Award eight times. His wife is Adv. M. Namitha. His children are Amal, a graduate student at MG College, and Uma, a ninth-grade student at Cottonhill School.
