Surya Parvathy is a well-known costume designer of the Malayalam film industry. Surya entered the design field through director Fazil's film Vismayathumbathu. She has spoken openly about the behavior of heroine Nayanthara while designing costumes in the film. Surya Parvathy shared these things in an interview given to a YouTube channel.
'I wanted to design costumes in Fazil sir's films. I am a fan of all the films he has directed. I know that Fazil sir gives a lot of importance to the clothes worn by the actors in the film. I called him seeking an opportunity. I went to his house with my family. He narrated the story of the film Vismayathumbathu.
But I didn’t know which heroine had been cast in the film. They did not get the heroine they wanted initially. Nayanthara was later cast as the heroine. She came to this after her first film. After seeing her style and way of speaking, I knew that she would become a big star in South India. She had an idea about fashion. When we gave her some clothes, she used to say that it won’t suit her.
She talks without any mercy. So, had difficulty in convincing her. Nayanthara would only obey Fazil sir. The heroines would generally be strict when it comes to clothes. There were no such demands for heroes. The heroines would pay attention to shoes and even jewelry. The saree worn by Nayanthara in Vismayathumbathy became a trend. Even now, her dressing is good. Will have to wear clothes that exposes in films. The clothes she wears on other occasions are good.
There were differences of opinion with many heroines when it came to costumes. There were differences of opinion with Parvathy Milton, the heroine in Mohanlal's film Hello. However, Samvrutha Sunil was very cooperative with us. She would wear the clothes I design without any making a fuss,' she said.
