RAWALPINDI: New Zealand chasing a target of 237 runs to win against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy Group A match.

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 236 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was the top scorer with 77 runs. Although the match is between Bangladesh and New Zealand, the result will be decisive for Pakistan. If New Zealand wins the match in Rawalpindi, Pakistan will be out of the tournament.

Kiwis captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and elected to field first. Openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim 24 (24) and Najmul Hossain Shanto 77 (110) gave Bangladesh a good start. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who came in third, scored 13 (14). Towhid Hridoy, who had scored a century against India, did not shine 7 (24). Veterans Mushfiqur Rahim 2 (5) and Mahmudullah 4 (14) were also dismissed quickly.

The team score crossed 200 with Jaker Ali 45(55), Rishad Hossain 26(25) and Taskin Ahmed 10(20). Mustafizur Rahman 3*(5) and Nahid Rana 0*(4) remaining not out. Off-spinner Michael Bracewell took four wickets for New Zealand. William O'Rourke took two wickets while Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson took one wicket each. New Zealand, who defeated Pakistan in their first match of the tournament, can secure a semi-final with India from the group if they win today.
