KOTTAYAM: BJP leader PC George, whose bail application was rejected by the Erattupetta court in the hate speech case in a channel discussion, has been transferred to Kottayam Medical College. George was taken to the medical college after an ECG abnormality was found during the medical examination. A decision will be taken after the expert examination here on whether to transfer George to a prison cell or to jail.
PC George surrendered before the Erattupetta court this morning. Although he had informed them that he would be at the Erattupetta police station for questioning, PC George, who surrendered before the court, moved forward with the aim of getting bail in the case. However, the court remanded him in police custody. Then PC George was subjected to a medical examination. The police have been investigating George for the past two days. The police were proceeding to arrest him the previous day, but PC George had sought two days' time to appear. P.C. George made anti-Muslim remarks during a channel discussion on January 5. The police registered a case based on a complaint by the Youth League Erattupetta Mandal Committee. The Kottayam Sessions Court and later the High Court had rejected P.C. George's anticipatory bail application.
