THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 23-year-old man who killed five people in the capital city has surrendered at the police station. The brutal act was committed by Afan (23), a native of Perumala, Venjaramoodu. The accused, who killed his girlfriend and brother, also attacked his own mother. The accused, according to his statement to the police, said that he also attacked three other people.

In his statement to police, Afan states that he killed three people in Perumala, two in Chullalam and one in Pangode. The youth said that he killed six people in three houses. Afan claims to have attacked his brother, mother, grandmother, girlfriend, uncle and wife. The police have unofficially confirmed the death of five of them. Of these, Afan's mother, Shemi, is in critical condition.

The body of the young man's grandmother Salma Beevi (88) was found in the house at Pangode. His 13-year-old brother Afsan and Afan's girlfriend Farzaana were found murdered. It is reported that the girlfriend's parents, Latif and Shahida, were also killed in Chullalam, SN Puram.

The police are questioning the accused in detail. The accused was abroad with his father. His mother was undergoing treatment for cancer. His younger brother Afsan was a ninth-grade student at Venjaramoodu School.
