THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accused Afaan (23), who killed five members of his family and the massacre that shook Kerala, arrived at the police station without any guilt. Afaan went inside after happily talking to his friend outside the station. His friend Muhammed Alif told media that Afaan told him that he had come to put a sign.
Alif's words
'I have known Afaan since childhood. He came to me calling Machane. When asked what the issue was, he said that he had come to put a sign. After going inside, he said that he had killed five people. At this time, he was very cool. There was no fear on his face. He entered the station tossing the keys of his bike. His behaviour was the same as before,' said Alif.
Police said Afaan started the series of murders at 1 pm yesterday by strangling his paternal grandmother Salma Beevi staying in Pangode. He then took her gold chain, pawned it and with the money bought hammer and knife to kill the others.
He then went to his paternal uncle's house and committed the murders. He then came to his house and murdered his brother and girlfriend. It was then 6 pm. Later he went to the police station.
Afaan's father Rahim running his own business in the Gulf got into debt after a huge loss. His relatives here did not help him to settle their debts. He may have committed the killings out of grudge as they reportedly had looked down upon his family.
