THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is believed that Afaan, who brutally murdered his little brother, close relatives and his girlfriend in Venjaramoodu, had used drugs. The DySP, the investigating officer confirmed that he had used drugs before committing the crime. The officer said the results of the scientific examination should come to clarify what kind of drugs he used.
More details regarding the murder will be clear only after interrogation. The DySP said that it will be known only after checking whether other drug cases have been reported against the accused. These things became clear now during the preliminary investigation. Meantime, although the accused is in police custody, it has not been clarified why Afaan committed the murders.
The question also arises as whether he got any help for the mass killing. Four of the five victims are his relatives. The police have not believed his confession that financial liabilities were the reason for the murder. The accused is currently undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital after he consumed rat poison.
The accused had tried to commit suicide by consuming rat poison eight years ago for not buying him a mobile phone. He had also sought treatment in the hospital then. Police said the accused is presently admitted in the pay ward of the hospital and is not cooperating with the treatment. Hospital authorities said the condition of his mother is critical.
