THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More details are out in the gruesome Venjarammoodu mass murder case that rocked the capital city. Currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were found scattered around Afaan’s brother Afzan’s dead body. It is learned that the accused took money as a loan from a private institution in Venjarammoodu with the promise of mortgaging jewellery.
The firm allowed money as a loan to Afaan as the officials were familiar with him and sensed no trouble. With this money, he bought a hammer to kill the relatives. He first went to paternal grandmother Salma Beevi’s house and smashed her head to death. After stealing her jewellery, Afaan returned to the private institution and gave the jewellery.
After this, Afaan went to his uncle’s house and killed the couple using the same hammer. Later, his brother and girlfriend became victims of his barbarity. It is doubted that the currency notes found near Afzan’s dead body were the leftover money Afaan had from the bank.
After completing the murder, Afaan took an autorickshaw to reach the police station and surrender. When police reached Afaan’s house for inspection, they found three bodies lying in a pool of blood. The officers saw Afaan’s mother’s eyes flicking while lying lifeless. She was then rushed to the hospital and is continuing in the critical stage.
