PALANI: A Malappuram native man and his son died tragically in a road accident in Tamil Nadu. The accident took place at Pushpathur Bypass on the Udumalaipettai-Dindigul highway. The car which they were travelling rammed into a lorry parked on the roadside.

Manjeri Trikkalangode natives Tharakan Muhammad Sadaqatullah Wahabi (32) and his son Muhammad Hadi (4) died in the incident. Muhammad’s wife Fatima Suhara (23) and daughter Aisal Mafara (two and a half) are undergoing treatment at Udumalaipettai Government Hospital with serious injuries.

A madrassa teacher in Kavanur Irivetty, Sadaqatullah was on a visit to various religious centres across Tamil Nadu. He also took his family along for the journey. The accident happened around 3:30 in the afternoon on Tuesday. Swaminathpuram police and locals conducted the rescue operation. The car that crashed into the lorry was pulled out using a crane. The dead bodies are currently kept at the Palani government hospital mortuary.
