PALAKKAD: Police have arrested a 35-year-old woman who snuck away with her son's friend, a 14-year-old boy. The boy has also been taken into custody. The police have registered a case based on the complaint of the 14-year-old's parents. The woman, a native of Kuthirapara, Kunissery, had run away with her 11-year-old son's friend, a 14-year-old boy. Family members came to know that the boy was with the woman after the 14-year-old did not return home after his school exams. A complaint was then filed with the Alathur police. The two were later found in Ernakulam. A case has been registered against the housewife for kidnapping the boy.

The police said that it was the 14-year-old boy who had come to the woman's house after the exams and told her that they could leave to somewhere else. However, since he was a minor, the woman was made the accused. The police caught both when they had left their homes and reached Ernakulam from Palakkad. Later, the child was returned to Palakkad and released with his parents. The police said that if necessary, a case of sexual assault under the POCSO Act will be filed against the woman, who is estranged from her husband.
