THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A doctor is proceeding to legally move against the acquittal of the accused in the case of hitting his own father on the head and killing him. The doctor has demanded that the state government appeal against this verdict. Dr. Leena Viswan, who was a medical officer in the emergency department of the Parassala Government Taluk Hospital, approached the Director General of Prosecutions. The letter given by the woman doctor was handed over by the Director General of Prosecutions to the District Police Chief.

The incident of the case happened on the night of December 10, 2016. Thankappan of the Thazhavila house in Karode, Oorambu, Kuzhinjanvila, Thiruvananthapuram, died after his son hit him on the head with a metal rod. However, the woman doctor is planning to approach the High Court, pointing out that the court acquitted the accused on the basis that the death occurred due to the lack of adequate treatment he received at the hospital.

Thankappan, who was hit on the head, was brought to the emergency department of Parassala Taluk Hospital for treatment at around 1 am. Later, while the head wound was stitched and the doctor was administering primary treatment, he became agitated and fell unconscious. The patient was immediately referred to the medical college through the OP ticket.

However, the patient who was sent from Parassala Taluk Hospital to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College was taken back home by those who were with him, and the patient died at his own home by noon. Meanwhile, the doctor has recorded the statement given by Thankappan, who had sustained injuries due to his son hitting his head. The investigation report in the case filed by the Pozhiyur police states that head injuries were the cause of death. However, the court acquitted the accused, concluding that the death occurred due to the lack of adequate treatment at the hospital.
