ALAPPUZHA: A teacher was arrested by the police for making obscene remarks to a Class 10 student. The accused, Shibu Khan, a native of Adikkattukulangara, is also a Congress leader. Shibu Khan also serves as the General Secretary of the Congress Palamel East Mandalam Committee and President of a Congress-affiliated service organization in the Mavelikkara Education District.

The incident occurred after the farewell ceremony for Class 10 students. As the girl was leaving, Shibu Khan allegedly made inappropriate remarks and behaved indecently towards her.

The student immediately informed her classmates, who then alerted others. SFI activists marched to the school and lodged a complaint with the headmaster. Following the student's formal complaint, Nooranad police arrived at the scene and arrested the accused. A case has been registered against Shibu Khan under the POCSO Act, along with other relevant charges.
