THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite losing two seats in the local body by-elections, the Left Front came out ahead with 17 out of 30 seats. UDF won 12 seats, and SDPI won one seat. BJP did not get any seats.

The elections were held in all districts except Wayanad. In two wards of Kasaragod district—Kolikkunnu in Madikai Grama Panchayat and Pallippara in Kayyur-Cheemeni Grama Panchayat—CPM candidates were elected unopposed. The UDF captured four seats from the LDF. UDF maintained its seat in the Kottayam Ramapuram panchayat.

LDF won in Kottara (Kollam), Sreevaraham (Thiruvananthapuram Corporation), Pulinkode (Poovachal), Kochumamoodu (Kollam), Prayar South - B (Kollam), Gyalaxi Nagar (Pathanamthitta), Palodam Ward (Alappuzha), Daivammedu (Idukki), Maanthoppu (Thrissur), Keezhppadam (Palakkad), Kunhallur (Malappuram), Kolavallur (Kannur), Pathiriyad (Kannur), Kadambur North (Kannur), and Cheemeni North (Kasaragod).

UDF won in Anchal (Kollam), Kochipalli (Thiruvananthapuram), Padinjatinkara (Kollam), Thadiyoor (Pathanamthitta), Mithrakkari East (Alappuzha), GV School Ramapuram (Kottayam), Methala South (Ernakulam), Nirappu (Ernakulam), Chakkittamala (Malappuram), Edakkulam (Malappuram), Melevalavu (Malappuram), Koorad (Wayanad), and Kuttoor (Kasaragod).
