WASHINGTON: Reports indicate that Ukraine has agreed to grant the United States mining rights to its rare earth minerals. This decision comes as U.S. President Donald Trump pushes to expedite the end of the Russia-Ukraine war. A Ukrainian official stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accepted the terms proposed by the U.S. The agreement is seen as part of Ukraine’s effort to secure continued American support.

Meanwhile, European nations have expressed their opposition to the U.S.'s unilateral approach in leading peace negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Reports suggest that French President Emmanuel Macron has called an emergency meeting in Paris to discuss the matter. The meeting is expected to be attended by the leaders of Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Poland, as well as NATO’s Secretary-General.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is also expected to attend the meeting. The discussion will include the role of European NATO countries in the ongoing situation. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump recently stated that he plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saudi Arabia. Reports suggest that U.S. officials will travel to Saudi Arabia in the coming days for the discussions. Notably, the European Union has not been included in these talks. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has not received an invitation to the peace negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
