CHICAGO: A potential collision between two planes arriving on the runway at the same time was averted due to the timely intervention of a pilot. The incident occurred recently at Chicago Midway International Airport in the United States. Southwest Airlines flight 2504 narrowly avoided a major accident by performing a "precautionary" go-around after spotting another aircraft on the runway. The landing took place at 8:50 AM local time, and video footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has provided an explanation regarding the incident. According to the FAA, a private jet entered the runway without authorization just as the Southwest Airlines plane was about to land. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the matter.

In the video, the Southwest plane can be seen approaching the runway for landing while the private jet is coming from the opposite direction. Just moments before touching down, the Southwest flight swiftly ascends again, avoiding a disaster. Reports indicate that the plane was only 50 feet from the runway when the pilot noticed the private jet and took immediate action to go around.

The Southwest flight was arriving from Omaha, Nebraska, while the private jet was departing for Knoxville, Tennessee. The private jet was identified as a Bombardier Challenger 350 model.
