KHARTOUM: At least 46 people were killed after a military plane crashed in a residential area near the military airport in Omdurman, near Sudan's capital, Khartoum.
Sudanese media reports that a senior commander was also killed in the incident. The accident happened on Tuesday evening near the Wadi Seidna Air Base military airport in northern Omdurman. The Sudanese military said civilians were among the dead.
Military sources cited technical faults for the flight nosediving to the residential area. Major General Bahr Ahmed, who was a senior commander in Khartoum, was also among those killed. 10 people are said to be injured in the accident.
