THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While a section of ASHA workers continue to protest in front of the secretariat against the state government demanding a wage hike, Left-leaning ASHA workers are protesting against the centre. The CITU-led ASHA Workers Federation is protesting saying that it is the central government, not the state, that should find a solution to the problems.

"The state government has agreed to increase the honorarium. However, the state is facing the obstacle of not getting the Rs 484 crore that the centre is supposed to give. It is in this situation that the ASHA workers are protesting in front of the central government institutions," said Federation General Secretary PP Prema. The state government is also on the stand that everything possible has been done on the issues raised by the ASHAs and there is nothing more to be done.
