KOCHI: The court will consider the bail plea of BJP leader P C George in the hate speech case. The case is being considered by the Erattupetta Munsif Magistrate Court. P C George filed the bail plea in the court yesterday. Although P C George was remanded in the case, he is still undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College following health issues.
He was admitted to Kottayam Medical College after an ECG abnormality was found during a medical examination. P C George was admitted to the Cardiology ICU on Monday night. Doctors said that his health condition is satisfactory. It was earlier announced that if his health improves, P C George will be moved to Pala Sub Jail. P C George had apologized on social media after his speech stoked a controversy. However, the police registered the case after the Erattupetta Youth League filed a complaint.
P C George surrendered before the Erattupetta court on Monday morning. Although he had informed that he would be at the Erattupetta police station for questioning, P C George, who surrendered before the court, moved forward with the aim of getting bail in the case. However, the court released him in police custody. The Kottayam Sessions Court and later the high court had rejected P C George's anticipatory bail plea. George had made controversial remarks against Muslims during a television debate on January 5 leading to a complaint filed by a Muslim Youth League leader.
