KOTTAYAM: A Plus Two student's ear was chopped off in an attack by junior students in the school hostel. The incident happened in the hostel of Model Government Higher Secondary School. There is also a complaint that the teachers delayed treatment to the student whose ear was chopped off. The family of the Plus Two student from Kunnamkulam approached Child Line with the complaint. The student, whose ear was chopped off, is resting at home after undergoing plastic surgery. The incident happened on the night of February 18.
The Plus Two student aged 17 was beaten up by junior students of tenth class in the hostel. The student’s ear was chopped off in the attack. The family alleged that many including the warden of the hostel hid the incident even after the student was seriously injured. It is also alleged that the school authorities lied to prevent the news of the attack from being revealed.
The family also said that the student’s plastic surgery was delayed for three days due to the negligence of the school authorities. The victim’s statement was recorded by the authorities of the child line on the complaint of his family. However, the hostel warden responded by saying that they were not informed about the fight between the students on time and that the student injured was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
