THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police will investigate about the debt of the accused Afaan and his family in the Venjaramoodu massacre that shook Kerala. The police have started collecting information from those who gave them money. The accused had also pawned his girlfriend Farsana's chain and instead gave her a chain of rolled gold. The police said Farsana had recently asked him to take her chain. The investigation has found that a huge financial liability is behind the mass killing.


The statement of Afaan's mother Shemi undergoing treatment in Gokulam Medical College Hospital in Venjaramoodu will be recorded today. The Attingal DySP had reached the medical college hospital last night with the doctor's permission to record the statement of Afaan, but as he was not in a good state of mind, could not complete the task. The police are trying to record his statement today. The mobile phones of Afaan and Shami have been sent for forensic examination. A letter has been given to the cyber police to check the Google search history of the accused.


The police found that Afaan had paid off his debt of Rs 40,000 from the money he got after pawning his grandmother's chain. It is reported that Shemi, his mother has a debt of Rs 65 lakh. The police are trying to confirm these things by taking Afaan's statement.
