THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala said the violent scenes in films are influencing the youths of Kerala. He was responding to the media on the recent mass killings in the state. Chennithala criticized films including MARCO that hit the theatres last year.

‘The government should intervene in this matter. Violence in films should be controlled. Unleashing widespread violences. Films like RDX, Kothu and MARCO are influencing the youngsters of Kerala. It is the government's responsibility to stop all this. The government is inactive here. They are trying to mislead the people by any means,' he said.

A 23-year-old youth brutally killed four members of his family and his girlfriend by hitting them on their heads. The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
