THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Abdul Rahim, father of Afaan, accused in the Venjaramoodu mass killing case, has reached Kerala. He is returning home after seven years. He came from Dammam in Saudi Arabia and reached Thiruvananthapuram Friday morning at 8 by Air India Express. Rahim's journey was hampered by financial crisis and lack of resident documents. He was able to return home with the help of a social activist.

Rahim is returning home after seven years and has lost most of his beloved ones. His son Afaan had murdered his mother and son, brother and his wife. His wife was attacked but she survived and is in the hospital now. Afaan, his eldest son, who has to look after the family, is in police custody. Rahim is not able to cope with the grief and loss.

He incurred a huge financial liability after his spare parts shop in Riyadh had to be closed due to heavy loss. He was not able to renew his Iqama (residence permit) for two and a half years. Social activist Naas Vakkom came to Abdul Rahim’s rescue. He paved the way for Rahim to return home after the passport department confirmed of no police case.
