THAMARASSERY: A boy of tenth class is in a critical condition after sustaining injuries in a clash that broke out at a private tuition center. The clash was between students of two schools. A dispute that started soon after the music stopped while dancing led to the fight. Muhammed Shahbaz, son of Iqbal of Thamarassery and a student of M J Higher Secondary School sustained serious head injuries.
The dispute that broke out during the farewell ceremony of class 10 students at the tuition centre ended in a fight. The event was held last Sunday. Students of M J Higher Secondary School in Vattoli were dancing in the hall. In the meanwhile, the phone malfunctioned and the song stopped, and then some students from Thamarassery Higher Secondary School made fun of that. The girl dancing got angry with them. After a fight broke out, the teachers intervened and calmed the situation. However, the students of M J School created a WhatsApp group and planned to question them.
A message was sent to the group asking them to come near the tuition centre at exactly at 5 pm on Thursday. 15 students who reached there clashed with the students of Thamarassery Higher Secondary School. Shahabaz sustained a head injury in this clash. However, since no injuries were visible outside, Shahabaz was taken home by his friends.
The family members, who saw the boy lying exhausted, took him to Thamarassery Taluk Hospital. As his condition was critical, he was shifted to Kozhikode Medical College. The child is presently in coma. The police have taken two into custody in connection with the incident.
