The loco pilot of the train that hit them says that they jumped in front of the train. The loco pilot also stated that they did not move even after the horn was blown.
They committed suicide by jumping in front of the Kottayam-Nilambur Express. The loco pilot informed the railway authorities after the incident. Then the police were also informed. Police officials arrived and removed the body from the railway track. The body was in a dismembered state and could not be identified. It was concluded that it could be a woman and two girls based on the clothes and shoes. There was also a suspicion that they were from other states.
However, subsequent investigations revealed that the deceased were the mother and children, who lived nearby. Allegations have been made against Shiny's husband for their suicide.
