NEW DELHI: It is a common complaint that food is charged exorbitant prices at airports. The Udaan Yatri Cafe was designed to address this. Udaan Cafe has started functioning at Chennai airport. The cafe was inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
The first Udaan Cafe in the country was launched at Kolkata airport in December last year. It was a huge success. The government then planned to expand the project across the country. The report says that the next Udaan Cafe will be launched at Delhi airport and that Udaan Cafes will start operating at other airports soon.
Udaan Cafe is located near the check-in area in Terminal 1 of Chennai Airport. These cafes offer drinks and tea for Rs 10 and coffee, samosas and sweets for Rs 20.
There was a flood of complaints from various quarters regarding the high prices charged for food at airports. The authorities decided to find a solution to these complaints. It was decided to set up Udaan Cafes with this. Udaan Yatri Cafes were started last year with the aim of providing snacks at the airport to all types of passengers.
