KOTTAYAM: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested an ASI for allegedly seeking sexual favours from a complainant in a financial fraud case. The arrested person has been identified as Biju, an ASI at Gandhinagar police station in Kottayam. Additionally, he is accused of accepting liquor as a bribe from the complainant.

The complainant had an ongoing case related to financial fraud at the Gandhinagar police station. The investigation was completed recently. However, on Thursday, she visited the station requesting further investigation into the matter. Since the CI was on leave, ASI Biju was handling the case. During this interaction, Biju allegedly asked her to engage in a sexual relationship with him.

Following this, the complainant approached the Kottayam Vigilance Office and reported the incident. Acting on the Vigilance team’s instructions, she invited Biju to a hotel in Manganam, Kottayam. When he arrived at the hotel, the Vigilance team apprehended him.
