KOCHI: The price of cooking gas for commercial use has been increased again, leaving the general public in a dark place. The price of a 19-kg cylinder has increased by Rs 6 in Kochi. With this, the price of a commercial cylinder has increased to Rs 1,812 in Kochi. Meanwhile, the price of a cylinder for domestic use has not changed.
Commercial cylinder prices have also increased in other major cities in the country. In Chennai, the price has increased by Rs 5.50 to Rs 1965. In Delhi, it has increased from Rs 1797 to Rs 1803.
The price of commercial cooking gas cylinders in the country was reduced ahead of the Union Budget presentation on February 1. The price of a 19-kg cylinder was reduced by Rs 7. Even then, the price of a cylinder for domestic use remained unchanged. In Kochi, it was reduced by Rs 6 to Rs 1,806. In Delhi, the price was reduced from Rs 1,804 to Rs 1,797. In Chennai, it was reduced from Rs 1,966 to Rs 1,959.
Cooking gas prices are revised on the 1st and 15th of every month. Oil marketing companies revise prices every month, taking into account changes in international oil prices, tax norms, and supply and demand factors.
