THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed a possibility of rain in all districts of the state today. Yellow alert has been issued in various districts. A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.


Expected impacts
1. Traffic congestion due to waterlogging/blurred vision on major roads.
2. Waterlogging/flooding in low-lying areas and river banks.
3. Falling of trees may lead to power outages/accidents.
4. Partial damage to houses and huts.
5. Landslides and mudslides are possible.
6. Rains are likely to adversely affect humans and livestock and damage unsafe structures in the coastal area.

2. Avoid non-essential travel and stay in safe areas.

Fishermen advised
The IMD has informed that there is no obstacle to fishing on the Kerala coast today. The IMD has also informed that fishing should not be done on the Lakshadweep coast today and tomorrow. There is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather along the Lakshadweep coast with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and at times up to 55 kmph.
