KOZHIKODE: As part of evidence collection, police recovered a nunchuk used by the accused to attack Shahbaz, a 10th class student who died after being beaten up by his classmates in Thamarassery. The nunchuk was recovered from the house of the main accused. Thamarassery police, led by SHO Sayuj, raided the houses of the five accused today.
The laptops and phones of the accused have been seized to gather more digital evidence. Further investigation will be done after these are subjected to forensic and technical examination.
Shahbaz was a student of Higher Secondary School in Elettil Vattoli. Last Sunday, there was a clash between the 10th-grade students at the tuition center regarding a small altercation that happened some days back during a farewell party at the tuition center.
During the function, the song for which a girl student of Elettil school was dancing suddenly paused inviting boos and howling from students of Thamarassery school. This is said to be the mainspring for the fight. The phone on which the song was playing suddenly got switched off, leading to the embarrassment. Shahbaz was first taken to the Thamarassery Taluk Hospital and later to the Medical College after he vomited at home and got fatigued.
The police have collected all the CCTV footage of the roads near the tuition center where the conflict took place. The officials have also intensified the investigation following allegations from the victim’s parents that the murder was planned.
