New Zealand will have to surpass 250 runs to win against India in the final group match of the Champions Trophy. Batting first, India scored 249 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Shreyas Iyer’s crucial half-century helped India reach a decent total.

The Indian top batting lineup stumbled, putting the responsibility on the middle-order lineup, and they showed up. Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya contributed well to help India evade humiliation.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and sent India into bat. Shubman Gill 2(7) and captain Rohit Sharma 15(17) could not stand long at the crease while Virat Kohli got dismissed for 11(14), leaving Indian at 30 runs for three wicket loss.

Shreyas Iyer's 79(98) and Axar Patel's 42(61) vital partnership of 98 runs for the fourth wicket proved effective and thwarted a batting collapse. It was Rachin Ravindra who broke this partnership by dismissing Axar. Later, KL Rahul 23(29), Hardik Pandya 45(45) and Ravindra Jadeja 16(20) made fine contributions to bring the team score close to 250.

Matt Henry took five wickets for New Zealand while Kyle Jamieson, William O'Rourke, Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra each took one. The team that wins the India-New Zealand match will enter the semi-finals as group champions. The winning team will face Australia, and the losing team will face South Africa in the semi-finals.

India's semi-final match will be played at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, while New Zealand's match will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.
