THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Most of the Malayalees in Bengaluru will receive this news sourly. One of the most popular transport services connecting Kerala with Bengaluru has announced major route changes.
Swift-Gajaraj of KSRTC used to start from Thiruvananthapuram every day at 5:30 pm. In a big setback for people hailing from southern Kerala, the Swift-Gajaraj service will resume on Monday, with the departure point at Kochi.
Due to the construction of the National Highway, the service, which used to start from Thiruvananthapuram, was changed to Ernakulam. Buses plying from Kaniyapuram via Nagercoil to Bengaluru will continue on this route.
Since the inception of the SWIFT service, the two Gajraj buses, KS 001 and KS 003, have been praised for their high passenger traffic. During the initial days, a single service from TVM to Bengaluru and the return journey generated Rs 1.40 lakhs in revenue.
The ongoing construction on the national highway has impeded a comfortable travel experience for heavy vehicles. It takes long hours of tortuous journeying to clear this cluttered road, which is up to Alappuzha. Buses on these routes heading towards Bengaluru are running almost three hours late.
Recently, there has been a dip in passengers from Thiruvananthapuram travelling through this route. The revenue also plummeted from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 85,000.
