KOCHI: Two youths were arrested with narcotics from Perumbavoor, Ernakulam, where other state workers live. The two youths, natives of West Bengal, were arrested with ganja and heroin. A special investigation team led by the Perumbavoor ASP arrested Manirul Sheikh (22), a native of Murshidabad, and Kishan Sarki (23), a native of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. 54 packets of ganja were seized from Munirul Sheikh and 10 bottles of heroin from Kishan Sarki.
Police said that the accused Manirul and Kishan Sarki were involved in drug trafficking in Bengal Colony, Perumbavoor. Both of them were under the surveillance of the investigation team for the past few days. The cannabis was sold in packets priced at Rs 500 and Rs 1000. The heroin was charged up to Rs 1000 per bottle from the customers.
The police say that the accused earned a large amount of money by selling drugs in this area, where there is a large number of other state workers. Recently, the locals have also been facing great difficulties due to the other state workers in this area.
