THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vizhinjam Port has achieved a historic feat. It has topped the list of 15 ports in the southeast region of India in terms of cargo handled in February. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in the Assembly that the project, which has been running for eight months since the trial run and three months since the commercial operation, has achieved amazing results. Vizhinjam International Container Terminal handled 78,833 TEU of cargo in February from 40 ships. He also said that Vizhinjam is gaining importance in the global maritime arena.
The growth of Vizhinjam Port will definitely reflect well in the development of Kerala, the Chief Minister added. Pinarayi Vijayan also stated that the government will move forward with determination to transform the Vizhinjam International Port into one of the best ports in the world.
