VATICAN CITY: The Vatican said Pope Francis being treated for pneumonia, is in a critical condition. Pope suffered two episodes of acute respiratory insufficiency caused by an accumulation of mucus aspirated both times. The doctors said they are providing all that is possible.
The Pope was admitted to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome on February 14 following a complex lung infection. Pneumonia was later found in both his lungs. Although the danger is not over, news came out the other day that Pope Francis is slowly recovering. There was a slight improvement in his health. The Vatican had announced that he was out of bed and was sitting in an armchair and undergoing therapies. The Vatican's announcement stated that he had slept well at night and had breakfast. In the meantime, it was reported that he had been put on a mechanical ventilator. Believers in the Vatican and various parts of the world continue to pray for the Pope's recovery.
Considering the Pope's privacy, no pictures of him from the hospital have been released. Reports also suggest that a decision has not been made on whether Pope Francis will retire due to his health. A retired cardinal had previously suggested that the pope might resign due to his deteriorating health. All of the pope's public events have been canceled.
