KASARGOD: Three people were killed after their car crashed into a divider. The accident happened last night near the Uppala excise checkpost at around 10:30. Four people were in the car. One of them is in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment. Parts of the car, which was completely destroyed in the accident, are scattered all over the road.
The dead are Krishna Kumar, native of Baikatta, his son Varun, and Kishan of Mangalore. It is reported that they were going to Mangalore. Ratan of Karnataka is undergoing treatment for his injuries. Ratan is in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Mangalore.
The police said the car's excessive speed is the cause of the accident. The road where the accident occurred is presently closed. The locals said the failure to install reflectors and lights indicating that the road narrows when entering the bridge from the main road also led to the accident.
