DISPUR: Visuals of Prajoyeeta Kashyap, daughter of former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, assaulting a driver has been going viral. The footage, released last night, is being widely circulated on social media.

The video shows a man kneeling and the woman hitting him with a slipper. The video was captured on the campus of a high security MLA hostel in Dispur. Although many people were watching the show, no one had reacted. The video was shot by a man from another house a little far away. It is reported that the driver has been working for Prafulla Kumar Mahanta's family for years.

Prafulla Kumar's daughter has come forward with a response to the incident. The driver regularly comes home drunk and passes comments against her. All her acquaintances know about this. I tried to make him understand and told him not to do so. He crossed all limits and knocked on the door of my room. When asked why she did not complain to the police, she replied that it is customary to blame the woman in such cases.

It is not clear whether this driver was a government employee or was working for the family. Although her father is no longer an MLA, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has been allowed to stay in the MLA hostel.
