NEW DELHI: Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed remains unperturbed despite facing flak for her opprobrium of Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma. In a blatant, strong criticism, Shama called Rohit fat and unfit to lead the Indian national team.

Congress party had to force Shama to delete the post from X; “She has been asked to delete the concerned social media posts from X and has been advised to exercise greater caution in the future.”

Despite the party distancing from the comments, Shama said she would stick with her comments and asked netizens not to drag the Congress party into the whole conundrum.

“I am a person who indulges in exercises to remain physically fit. Doesn’t a sports person need to be physically fit? I just gave my opinion, and it was not meant to harm anyone. Look at former captains Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid. They are still fit for a sportsperson. There is no need for me to apologise for my comments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a program called 'Fit India. ' Obesity has increased to over thirty percent in India. Now, connect the dots and see how relevant the topic I posted is. This is my statement. Don’t drag Congress into it,” said Shama.

Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed has come under fire for her X post that Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is fat and a bad captain. The Congress leadership intervened and removed the post after the incident became controversial, but the criticism against Shama has not stopped. Although Congress clarified that they do not support the post, Shama's post has given Congress a bad name.
