KOCHI: In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old boy studying in Class 6 was severely tortured by his father after losing his geometry box and book. The boy was physically assaulted, with his head held underwater, resulting in a fractured arm. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The father, Shiva Kumar (34), a native of Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, has been arrested by Kalamassery police.

The incident occurred at 8:30 PM on March 1st at Shiva Kumar’s residence in Toshiba Junction, Thrikkakkara. Shiva Kumar, who had been living separately from his wife, was visited by his son, who had come to stay with him for two days. On Saturday, the boy informed his father that the geometry box and book were missing. Later that night, after returning home intoxicated, Shiva Kumar became furious and began beating his son with a wooden stick. He also held the child’s head underwater in a bucket.

The boy’s screams caught the attention of neighbors, who quickly rushed him to the hospital. Medical professionals confirmed the boy had a fractured arm and alerted the Kalamassery police. Acting under the leadership of SHO M.B. Latheef, SI Ranjith, and SCPOs Mahin Abubakkar and Sreejith, the police arrested the father, who had attempted to flee. He was apprehended the next morning near the Thrikakkara A.G.O. Quarters. He was subsequently produced in court and remanded.
