KOZHIKODE: The investigation team have sought information from Meta in the murder of Muhammed Shahabaz, a tenth-class student, in Thamarassery. The police have sought information from Meta to know about the Instagram groups that planned the clash. The police have also sent an email to Meta asking if the source and accounts of the audio messages surfaced in connection with the incident are fake. They have also been directed to provide information about the devices used for WhatsApp and Instagram accounts.
It is reported that the detailed statements of the accused students will be taken later as the exams are going on. Mobile phones and laptops were seized in the raids conducted at the houses of the accused. These are being examined in detail. It is also being investigated whether the accused have groups on other social media besides Instagram. Although they are not directly involved in the crime, the police are mainly examining whether more students were involved in planning and executing it.
Meantime, the students remanded and housed in Vellimadukunnu Observation Home in Kozhikode in the Shahabaz murder case will write the exams today under police escort. Six students, including the student remanded yesterday, are writing the exam at a specially prepared center in the Juvenile Home.
There was widespread protests against the accused writing the SSLC exam. KSU, MSF and Youth Congress activists protested at the Vellimadukunnu Observation Home. The activists are protesting today also. The protesters are demanding that the accused be not allowed to write the exam.
