MALAPPURAM: Police have obtained crucial information regarding the two female students who went missing from Tanur. The girls, who left home wearing school uniforms, were later seen in Kozhikode wearing casual clothes. The last call on both their phones came from the same number. Fathima Shahada and Aswathy, students of Devadar Higher Secondary School in Tanur, have been missing since yesterday afternoon.
The location of their phones shows they are in Kozhikode. The call was made using a SIM card registered under the name of a person from Edavanna. Tanur CI Tony J. Mattam said that the location of this number is currently in Maharashtra. On Wednesday, the two girls left home for school to attend their exams but were later reported missing. When the girls did not appear for the exam, the teachers informed their families. Following this, the families lodged a complaint with the Tanur police.
The girls arrived at the Tirur Railway Station on Wednesday afternoon. From there, they are believed to have traveled to Kozhikode. It is assumed they boarded a train in Tirur and arrived in Kozhikode. Though the last person who called them has a SIM card registered in Maharashtra, the police believe the girls may still be in the Kozhikode district. The police are also investigating the possibility of the girls leaving Kozhikode for another location.
