KOLLAM: Before the end of this government's term, an additional 10 lakh people in the state will be provided with employment opportunities. Ongoing development projects aimed at accelerating Kerala’s progress will also be completed. These assurances were outlined in the development policy document presented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the CPM State Delegates Conference. The document incorporates alternative strategies to achieve these goals.

The second Pinarayi government had set a target of creating 20 lakh jobs through new entrepreneurial ventures worth Rs 3.3 lakh crore. So far, mechanisms have been put in place to provide employment to 10 lakh people. The policy document, titled 'Navakeralathe Nayikkan Puthuvazhikal' (New Ways to Lead New Kerala), asserts that the Left Front government will return to power with a guaranteed victory, according to party state secretary M.V. Govindan. The six-part document outlines ongoing development projects and suggests measures to accelerate them. After detailed discussions at the conference, the document will be finalized.

Efforts are progressing to secure Rs 1.52 lakh crore in investments through the investor summit held in Kochi. Another major initiative is the Vizhinjam project, which is expected to bring significant development to the Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts. Around 1,400 acres of land have been acquired for the Kochi-Coimbatore industrial corridor.

Will raise people's living standards
The government is implementing effective interventions to address unemployment. The policy document also includes directives to enhance knowledge-based communities and intellectual resources. The objective is to raise the living standards of the people of Kerala to match those of developed and semi-developed nations.

M.V. Govindan criticized the BJP, stating that its goal is to make industrialists like Ambani and Adani wealthier while pushing the people into poverty. In contrast, the Left government aims to uplift the living standards of the people, he asserted.
