KOCHI: The Advocates Association has organized a public protest against Justice A Badharudeen in the Kerala High Court. It is alleged that Badharudeen spoke in a way insulting a woman lawyer. Badharudeen had stated that he would apologize in chambers, but the advocates association demanded that he apologize in open court. The incident occurred while Badharudeen was considering a case in the open court yesterday.
Advocate Alex first appeared in this case months ago. He died a month ago. His lawyer wife, then appeared in the court for the case and sought time to change the vakalath (legal document that authorizes a lawyer to represent a client in a court of law). However, Badharudeen spoke badly. 50 lawyers then filed a complaint with the secretary of the advocates association yesterday itself.
With this, the Chief Justice also intervened in the matter. Although Badharudeen said that he was ready to apologize to the lawyer in chambers, the Advocates Association were not ready. The lawyers’ association will meet at 1 pm today and pass a resolution to boycott the court presided over by Justice Badharudeen and move forward.
